Soon you will reach the Laguna Oviedo, which contains fresh water as well as sea water. Only a small strip of land separates the lagoon from the ocean. A boat ride will show you the beauty of the nature from another point of view. Discover dry, desert-like vegetation and various species of birds, herons and ducks. The Laguna Oviedo consists of 22 islands of different sizes and vegetation. On a stop of one of the islands you have the rare chance of seeing iguanas in the wild. A ten-minute walk leads you across one of the small islands through sparse vegetation covered with cacti to an observation tower. Do not be frightened when the iguanas follow you curiously! Enjoy the fantastic view over the lagoon and the Jaragua National Park, the Caribbean sea and the mountains of the "Sierra de Bahoruco" during a short break.
